Saints Peter and Paul Students Plant Native Garden
October 6, 2008, Easton, MD -- Saints Peter and Paul Elementary School 4th and 6th graders have planted a Native Garden outside the school with the help of SSPP High School Seniors in Paula Grimes Environmental Science Classes. Fourth grade teacher Sherrie Connolly organized the effort to bring students together from across different grade levels to give them the opportunity to work together and to teach them to care for the environment by planting native species that provide essential food and shelter for butterflies, insects, and birds. Students spent several class periods planting, mulching, and watering. Students will follow up with an additional planting in the spring.
