The
Middle States Process - A Vision for the Future
Middle States Accreditation
The entire school and parish community should take great pride in the following announcement:
“The Commission on Secondary Schools of the Middle States Association let it be known that Saints Peter and Paul High School has demonstrated to evaluators that it is effectively advancing the quality of the educational experience it offers its students and complies with the standards established by the Commission on Secondary Schools and approved by the members of the Association and is therefore, granted accreditation through May 1, 2013.”
Saints Peter and Paul High School Accreditation for Growth Protocol
Saints Peter and Paul High School is currently accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools through May 1, 2013. In November 2005, a Middle States Validation Team evaluated all facets of Saints Peter and Paul High School, and especially our three Student Performance Objectives and Action Plans
The entire school community actively prepared for this event for two years while engaging in the Accreditation for Growth protocol that examined all facets of our school community. Our Accreditation for Growth Planning Team consisting of faculty, parents, students, alumni and parishioners, oversaw a pervasive self-study of our high school. We assessed our compliance with all Middle States standards, developed comprehensive student performance objectives, and created action plans to help us achieve those objectives.
Our Student Performance Objectives and their accompanying Action Plans were thoughtfully developed and are consistent with our mission as a Roman Catholic high school in preparing young men and women in mind, body, and spirit. They serve as a guide for growth over seven years in the areas of academics, student life, and spiritual formation for our school. Below are links to some valuable information about the Middle States process for our school, including the Student Performance Objectives, accompanying Action Plans, and Annual Review that will guide the school through 2013.
With a clear focus on mind, body, and spirit, our school will continue to grow and flourish as the wonderful institution that it is. Should you have any questions or comments about our Middle States process, please feel free to contact our Internal Coordinators, Mr. Tim Linck (x309 or tlinck@ssppeaston.org) or Mrs. Gina Hovland (x305 or vhovland@ssppeaston.org).
Information on the Middle States Association's evaluation of our MidPoint Review Report
The following is from a letter dated September 23, 2008 from Henry Cram, president of the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools:
"As part of the maintenance process for accreditation, Middle States Association now requires schools in the third year of the accreditation term to submit a MidTerm Report of its progress made to date. Specifically, the school is asked to report the progress made in the implementation of its Plan for Growth and Improvement and toward achieving its objectives. …If the Report is acceptable and/or there were no significant issues raised by the visiting team that warrant onsite followup, the MSA staff may notify a school that a MidTerm Review Visit is not required."
Our Report was submitted to the Middle States Association in December of 2008. The following is the response we received:
"Thank you for submitting your school’s MidTerm Report. The intent of this report is to provide the Middle States Association with accurate and detailed information regarding your school’s activities and efforts to maintain its status as an accredited school. After a thorough review of your school’s MidTerm Report, it has been determined that the information and report your school submitted:
- Is complete and was received on time;
- Shows evidence the school continues to meet the Middle States Standards for Accreditation;
- Indicates your school is living up to the five AFG commitments;
- Provides evidence and data that indicates satisfactory progress has been made in the implementation of your school’s Action Plans and toward achieving the approved accreditation objectives;
- Presents documentation of formal reviews of your school’s Action Plans that were conducted at least annually and improvements and modifications that were made to the Action Plans in order to keep them meaningful and effective; and
- There are no monitoring or other issues noted in the Team Report or MidTerm Report that require an onsite visit."
